Weekend Planner — music

When he’s not teaching at Hampshire College, saxophonist/flutist/composer Carl Clements is off performing with various ensembles, including the Carl Clements Quartet, a jazz group whose approach is influenced by Clements’ longtime study of North Indian classical music. On Friday the quartet — including pianist Stephen Page, bass player Tyler Heydolph and drummer Alex Snydman — will be at the North Hadley Congregational Church (on River Road, Route 47 north) for a solstice concert beginning at 7 p.m. Suggested $10 donation; $5 for seniors and students.

You can also catch Clements on Sunday at the Loft at the Clarion Hotel in Northampton, where he’ll be performing with vocalist Ann Maggs. 5-8 p.m.
