Name not released in Friday fatality in Northampton
NORTHAMPTON — The identities of those involved in a two-car collision on Route 5 Friday evening that left one driver dead and the other injured could be released today.
Mary Carey, a spokeswoman from the Northwestern district attorney’s office, said Sunday that the names of the two drivers have not yet been made public.
The accident took place at 5:23 p.m., about a half mile from the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center at 1 Atwood Drive, when the northbound vehicle went into the southbound vehicle’s lane. The driver of the northbound vehicle died at Cooley Dickinson Hospital a short time later.
The crash led to the closing of the road for several hours as authorities investigated.
