Candlelight vigil in Easthampton to honor deceased children

The 11th annual Candlelight Vigil to honor the memory of deceased children will take place at The Christmas Box Angel Statue in John Bator Park on Williston Avenue in Easthampton on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Parents who have lost a child are asked to bring a candle to light in memory of their child. Parents and family members may say a few words about their child, if they wish.

The 3-foot-tall bronze statue was erected in 2001 by local members of a nationwide support group called Compassionate Friends. All bereaved parents are welcome regardless of when the child’s death occurred, the age of the child or children or the cause of death. Following the vigil, a reception will be held at Easthampton Congregational Church.
