The Style Stop team spotted Northampton resident Cassandra Michaelis’ bright yellow jacket as she walked past Thornes Marketplace on a recent sunny day. We stopped to pick her brain about her fall fashion choices.

Jacket: I chose to wear this today because of the color. It contrasts the usual fall/autumn colors that are worn around this time. I wanted something that will pop like spring colors.
Shoes: They are vintage from the ’70s. I’m not sure I have a particular era that I like but I like vintage stuff.
Glasses: They are also vintage — from the ’50s.

Everyday dress-up process: I choose what to wear depending on my mood and how I’m feeling.
Fashion advice: If you like vintage clothes then I’ll advise that you shop from thrift stores like the Salvation Army. I used to work at the Salvation Army and I learned that there are many hidden gems there. You can buy something that will cost about $70 on an online thrift store there for $5. You should also be able to wear whatever you want.
Fashion no-no: I don’t buy any new clothing from retail shops. I like to wear secondhand stuff.
