NORTHAMPTON — A two-car collision on Damon Road Friday morning sent both drivers to the hospital and backed up traffic for more than an hour, police said.
Police said that at about 8:14 a.m. a 2009 Dodge driven by Lynn A. Malo, 46, of 125 Riverside Drive, Florence, crossed over the center line while traveling west on Damon Road, striking a 2010 Toyota driven by Maureen A. Keily, 63, of 29 Henshaw Ave., Florence, traveling in the eastbound lane.
Keily was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where she is listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Malo was transported to Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokeswoman. Malo’s car rolled over after the impact. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles and both drivers had to be extricated, said Capt. Scott Savino.
Both vehicles were totalled and towed from the scene, according to police. A portion of Damon Road was closed off and traffic was backed up for well over an hour, Savino said.
Malo was cited by Northampton Police for a marked lanes violation, Savino said.
