Congratulations to Carlton Pickron of Amherst, one of 37 people to correctly identify last week’s mystery photo as the door handle at Bart’s Ice Cream shop in Amherst.
Amy Driver of South Hadley provided a little history on the popular eatery.
“The shop was established and opened for business in 1985 by Gary & Barb Schaffer, the original owners of Bart’s Home Made Ice Cream in downtown Northampton,” she wrote. “I recall fond memories of working early morning shifts at Bart’s in Northampton. As an employee, I went to the opening ceremony in Amherst. It certainly brings back memories when I was burning the candle at both ends with work and school! So glad those days are over, and not sure how I managed it all, I guess being young enabled that kind of energy!”
