Disorderly man arrested at busy Amherst Farmers Market

Ladislao V. Lorincz, 63, of Worcester, was arrested at 11:01 a.m. on the Town Common on charges of disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and resisting arrest, said Detective David Foster.

The first calls related to Lorincz came to police at 8:48 a.m., when vendors described a man with long gray hair and a Hawaiian shirt cursing at adults and children. In addition, he made a strange comment to a farmer from whom he had purchased $3 worth of potatoes, Foster said.

More than two hours later, Lorincz was allegedly still using obscenities and began demanding that he be arrested, at which time police officers placed him in custody, Foster said.

Besides the farmers market, which is held weekly on Spring Street, the Town Common was filled with artists selling items as part of the Big Brothers Big Sisters annual craft fair.
