Kathleen Mellen’s Best Bets

MUSICAL BENEFIT

Singer-songwriter team Charlie King and Karen Brandow have put on fun, inspiring shows with a social conscience all over the world. They’ll perform locally Saturday in “Duopalooza,” a benefit for the Markham-Nathan Fund for Social Justice. They’ll be joined by the equally entertaining and inspiring duo, Magpie. 7:30 p.m., Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence, 220 Main St., Northampton. $12 in advance; $15 at the door. www.markhamnathanfund.org.

ANOTHER GOOD BET

Beginning Tuesday and until the end of the month, you can simultaneously nourish your body and your soul: Most Northampton eateries will be celebrating Poetry Month by displaying poems about food written by local poets. It’s the brainstorm of the city’s poet laureate, Rich Michelson.
