The hat, the tie, the jaunty scarf — the Style Stop team couldn’t pass up the chance to talk with Kae Coyne of Easthampton during an encounter in Thornes Marketplace in downtown Northampton.

TIES: They’re just neat. I used to work at a restaurant where we had to wear them. I have maybe 35 of them. If I don’t have one on, I’m not as chipper. This one has little elephants on it — elephants are good luck if their trunks are up.

HAT: It’s really battered, but I do like this particular one. It’s got a wide brim. It’s about 15 years old and was given to me by a friend in Florida.

SCARF: I’m pretty sure it’s from Goodwill. If I’m going to wrap myself in a scarf, I want it to look nice. I like the stripes on this one. They’re not really loud, they’re nice and muted.

JACKET: It’s really comfortable and I like corduroy. It looks good with jeans or with nice suits. It’s very functional that way.

CANE: No, it’s not part of the outfit. I have a bad hip.

STYLE ADVICE: Be who you are. As long as we’re all different, we have a reason to talk to each other and learn from each other.
