Steve Pfarrer’s Best Bets

Think you’ve heard it all when it comes to the Beatles? Scott Freiman might beg to differ. The New York composer, music producer and sound engineer presents multimedia shows on how the Fab Four recorded their celebrated music. Next Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Amherst Cinema, Freiman will offer “Deconstructing Sgt. Pepper,” a presentation featuring rare audio and video and an analysis of the songwriting and recording techniques of the band’s landmark 1967 album.

Valley favorite Erin McKeown spends 200 days a year on the road, and in recent years the celebrated songwriter/guitarist and Conway resident has also developed a side career as a political activist, lobbying on copyright issues for musicians. Tonight McKeown touches down at Northampton’s Iron Horse Music Hall for a 7 p.m. show. Vermont singer Grainne Buchanan opens.
