Rainbow flags and LGBT stickers were in evidence everywhere last Saturday at Rainbow Riverfest, a festival held at the Holyoke Canoe Club. The two-day event drew hundreds of members of the LGBT community, plus straight friends and allies.

Sister Funk, a sassy, in-your-face funk band celebrating its 10th anniversary as an all-lesbian group, was a crowd favorite. The band was inducted last year into the Women’s Hall of Fame.

Representatives from the Human Rights Campaign were on hand, collecting signatures on a petition for a federal law to ban workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Riverfest offered those who attended a chance to relax and enjoy music and dancing, activities ranging from hula hooping to Zumba, and workshops on tai chi, qi gong, acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and reiki.
