Every spring, the same rituals, images and messages recur during high school-graduation season: diplomas are handed out, students rejoice, parents beam with pride and shed tears, speakers invoke words of hope for the future and nostalgia for the past.
And yet, every graduating senior is an individual, every high school has its own spirit, every town and city in Hampshire County has its own character.
Gazette photographers who fanned out in recent days to cover 11 high school graduations in this area came back with photos that captured moments that seem timeless — and that also belonged uniquely to the classes of 2014. Here is a sampling of what they saw.
