Weekend Planner — Music
Pioneer Valley Jazz Shares? It’s kind of like farm shares, where consumers purchase a “share” in a farm in exchange for a box of seasonal produce each week, thus ensuring the farmer sufficient cash flow. In this case a group of local music lovers headed up by Glenn Siegel has purchased “jazz shares” to provide the capital needed to produce concerts with minimal institutional support.
Beginning its second season on Saturday, PVJS is bringing Harris Eisenstadt Golden State to the Institute for the Musical Arts in Goshen. The quartet features flutist Nicole Mitchell, bassoonist Sara Schoenbeck, bass player Mark Dresser and bandleader/composer/drummer Harris Eisenstadt, who has been called “one of the most creative and skilled musician/composers incorporating traditional material to create new and vital improvised music” (All About Jazz).
7:30 p.m. $15. IMA is located at 165 Cape St. (Route 112) in Goshen. www.jazzshares.org
