For the 145th time in as many years, the Cummington Fair took place last week at the town’s fairgrounds, drawing visitors from all over the Valley.

Events and activities included a pumpkin contest, animal shows, craft exhibits, truck pulls, music, rides and plenty of food.

“The busiest day was Saturday,” said Sandy Lilly, the fair’s treasurer. “With both the Demolition Derby and the Spirit of Johnny Cash playing, we had two big hits going on at the same time.”

The 4-H animal shows featured sheep, cows and even carrier pigeons. “I like the rides, the food and I love to show and be proud of my animals,” said Katelynn Adams, 12, who was there with her cows from Morning Dew Farm in Worthington.

Jessie and Dan Krug, of Westhampton, were this year’s winners of the award for being the longest married couple at the fair. Married 66 years, the Krugs said they never miss the annual event.
