DJANGO UNCHAINED: Django (Jamie Foxx), a slave-turned-bounty hunter, sets out to rescue his wife, Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), from a Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), a brutal Mississippi plantation owner. Also stars Christoph Waltz. Rated R.

HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS: In this spin on the fairy tale, Hansel (Jeremy Renner) and Gretel (Gemma Arterton) are bounty hunters who track and kill witches. Also stars Peter Stormare. Rated R.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY: A curious Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), journeys to the Lonely Mountain with a vigorous group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure stolen from them by the dragon Smaug. Also stars Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage. Rated PG-13.

IDENTITY THIEF: Mild-mannered businessman Sandy Patterson (Jason Bateman) travels from Denver to Miami to confront Diana (Melissa McCarthy ), the deceptively harmless-looking woman who has been living it up after stealing Sandy’s identity. Also stars, John Cho, Amanda Peet. Rated R.

THE IMPOSSIBLE: An account of a family caught, with tens of thousands of strangers, in the mayhem of the devastating tsunami that hit Southeast Asia in 2004. Stars Naomi Watts, Ewan McGregor, Tom Holland. Rated PG-13.

LES MISÉRABLES: In 19th-century France, Prisoner 24601, aka Jean Valjean, is released from prison, breaks parole, and is on the run from a ruthless policeman, Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe). While trying to make a better life for himself, he agrees to care for Cosette (played as a child by Isabelle Allen and as an adult by Amanda Seyfried), the daughter of a poor factory worker, Fantine (Anne Hathaway). Also stars Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter. Rated PG-13.

LIFE OF PI: After surviving a disaster at sea, a young man begins an epic journey of adventure and discovery, during which he forms a bond with another survivor — a Bengal tiger. Stars Suraj Sharma, Irrfan Khan, Adil Hussain. Rated PG.

LINCOLN: As the Civil War continues to rage, President Abraham Lincoln fights with many inside his own cabinet on his decision to emancipate the slaves. Stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn. Rated PG-13.

MAMA: Annabel (Jessica Chastain) and Lucas (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces who were apparently left alone in the forest for five years. But how alone were they? Also stars Megan Charpentier. Rated PG-13.

QUARTET: At a home for retired opera singers, the annual concert to celebrate Verdi’s birthday is disrupted by the arrival of Jean Horton (Maggie Smith), an eternal diva and the former wife of Reginald Paget (Tom Courtenay) one of the residents. The film is Dustin Hoffman’s directorial debut. Also stars Michael Gambon, Billy Connolly. Rated PG-13.

SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK: After a stint in a mental institution, former teacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) moves back in with his parents and tries to reconcile with his ex-wife. Things get more challenging when Pat meets Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious girl with problems of her own. Also stars Robert De Niro. Rated R.

STAND UP GUYS: A pair of aging con men (Al Pacino, Christopher Walken) try to get the old gang back together for one last hurrah before one of the guys takes his last assignment — to kill his buddy. Also stars Alan Arkin. Rated R.

WARM BODIES: After a zombie named R (Nicholas Hoult) saves Julie (Teresa Palmer) from an attack, the two form a relationship that sets in motion a sequence of events that might transform the entire lifeless world. Also stars John Malkovich. Rated PG-13.

ZERO DARK THIRTY: Since the 9/11 attacks on the United States, Maya (Jessica Chastain), a CIA operative, has been single-minded in her search for Osama bin Laden’s whereabouts. In 2011, based on her intelligence, a U.S. Navy SEAL team is sent to kill or capture the terrorist leader. Also stars Joel Edgerton, Chris Pratt. Rated R.
