Wednesday’s high school softball, baseball: Samantha Sypek’s walk-off drives home Easthampton victory

Samantha Sypek’s walk-off single in the seventh delivered Easthampton a 3-2 victory over McCann Tech, Wednesday in Easthampton.

Sypek, who had two hits, played Monica Rosa with the winning run.

Olivia Downer and Michelle McDermott also had two hits, and both drove in runs in the sixth inning.

Rachel Robinson struck out eight with zero walks and just three hits in seven innings for the Eagles (12-3, 8-1 Bi-County West).

Smith Vocational 13, Pathfinder 0 (5) — Stephanie Start pitched her second straight five-inning no-hitter as the Vikings (11-6, 11-1 Tri-County) moved within one win of securing the school’s first league title in a girls sport.

Start struck out eight and walked nine.

“She pitched herself into some pickles, but pitched herself out of them,” Smith coach Nelson Lacey said.

Amanda York ended the game with a walk-off grand slam.

Alli Kowalczyk (triple, two walks, three RBIs) and Maddisin Atkinson (hit, RBI, three walks) each scored twice.

Granby 25, Renaissance 1 (5) — Kate Sullivan drove in four runs on a 4-for-4 day, including a double and a triple.

Kayla McCreary had five hits and three RBIs, while Mallory Beauregard went 3-for-3 with two RBIs for the Rams (6-8).

Ware 12, Gateway Regional 0 (5) — Erika Wolfe and Angela Wright each had one hit for the Gators (2-15, 0-10 Bi-County West) in a road loss.

Dayna Britland added two hits.

Northampton 5, Chicopee 0 — The Blue Devils (14-3) cruised past the Pacers at home.

Anna Kerwood allowed only one hit in the complete-game win with five strikeouts and two walks.

Zoe Driscoll-Sbar had two hits for Northampton (14-3).

Emilia Pelis went 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run scored.

Amanda Mieczkowski added an RBI double.

Baseball

South Hadley 4, Pioneer Regional 1 — David Adams struck out seven and allowed just one hit and one run for the win.

Chance Almonte, Evan Levrault, Drew Foley and Jarrett Sudyka all drove in runs for the Tigers (11-4).

Sabis 17, Gateway Regional 6 — Jake McKittrick went 3-for-3 and scored two runs.

Nathaniel Bushor, Brett Bonenfant and Garrett Bean had RBIs for the Gators (2-13, 1-3 Bi-County North).

Smith Vocational 11, Duggan 0 — The Vikings got three hits from Jack O’Connell in the home win.

Jordan Andrews struck out nine and gave up six hits for Smith Voke (8-8).
