amherst historical society — Seeking volunteers of all ages interested in history. Training provided, hours flexible. Tasks include serving as a greeter at the Simeon Strong House, 67 Amity St., or as a docent showing visitors historical artifacts. Living Wage Western Mass (LWWM) — An organization operated by a steering committee that encourages all employers to pay their workers at least a living wage. LWWM seeks volunteers to serve on its steering committee. Duties include attending steering committee meetings in Northampton and doing outreach to employers. Free medical clinic of the Amherst Survival Center — Seeking: Volunteer physicians and volunteer nurse practitioners to provide basic medical care to patients in a walk-in clinic. umass amherst hearing researchers — Seeking volunteers ages 40 and older to participate in studies of hearing changes with age. Participants will be asked to make a two-hour visit to the UMass Amherst campus where they will complete hearing, speech comprehension and cognition tests. Yiddish book center — Seeking volunteer docents to greet and orient visitors, answer questions about events and membership, provide support to staff and process donations. Chd’s big brothers big sisters of hampshire county — Seeking dedicated adults to serve as positive role models in local children’s lives. Volunteer Drivers — The American Cancer Society is looking for volunteer drivers in Berkshire, Hampshire, Hampden and Franklin counties for its Road to Recovery program that provides transportation to and from treatment for people with cancer who do not have a a ride or are unable to drive themselves. Amherst Survival CenteR — The Amherst Survival Center connects residents of Hampshire and Franklin counties with food, clothing, healthcare, wellness and community, primarily through volunteer efforts. The center needs volunteers to make a two to three hour/week commitment (for a minimum of three months) to prepare and deliver programs at its North Amherst location. Northampton survival center — Seeking warm, mature, committed individuals who are able to give two to three hours a week. It takes roughly 35 volunteers to ensure that 2,500 pounds of food goes home with families in need each weekday.
