UMass hockey’s 2023-24 schedule features Michigan, Minnesota State, Harvard

The UMass hockey team’s 2023-24 schedule features two Frozen Four participants in the first six games and five total teams that reached the NCAA tournament.

Released Friday with a video tour through the Minutemen’s locker room, the schedule opens with AIC for the second year in a row, as the Yellow Jackets visit the Mullins Center on Oct. 7. UMass plays its first three games at home.

Michigan, which reached the Frozen Four last year, will be in Amherst Oct. 13 and 14. It repays a visit the Minutemen made to Ann Arbor in January of 2022.

UMass’ first road trip will take it to Mankato, Minnesota, to face Minnesota State on Oct. 21-22, returning the Mavericks’ weekend to open the 2021-22 season.

Hockey East play opens against defending conference champions Boston University at Agganis Arena on Oct. 27 before the second game takes place in Amherst the following evening.

UMass will visit Harvard on Nov. 24, and Alaska Anchorage will make the long flight to Amherst 0n Dec. 8-9 for other notable nonconference games.

The Minutemen will participate in the Adirondack Winter Invitational holiday tournament in Lake Placid to close out nonconference play, N.Y. on Dec. 29-30. They’ll open with Cornell in the first game then face either Clarkson or Arizona State in Game 2 depending on the results of the first two.
