HOLYOKE — The body of a Hadley man missing since January was found in the Connecticut River Thursday morning.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed the remains found were those of Nathan Kermensky, according to a Saturday Facebook post by Hadley Police Sgt. Mitchell Kuc. Police said foul play was not suspected in Kermensky’s death.

A graduate of Hopkins Academy, Kermensky is survived by his parents, a brother and sister, among other family. See obituary, Page B2.

Police also found the body of Brianna Cuoco, an 18-year-old missing since Jan. 18, in the Connecticut River in Agawam on Thursday.

The Hampden County District Attorney’s office said in a release that the manner of Cuoco’s death was still under investigation.

“This is an open and active case and no further information is available at this time,” the release stated.

Cuoco was a student at Chicopee Comprehensive High School. She had last been seen in the area of Bridge Street in South Hadley.

Kermensky, 26, had been missing since Jan. 29.

That day, his black Buick Regal sedan was found parked with its keys inside in the parking lot of the Elwell Recreation Area on Damon Road in Northampton. Police tracked Kermensky’s phone and the data suggested it had last been used in that area.

River and ground searches of the area revealed no sign of Kermensky.

Holyoke Gas and Electric employees spotted the body Thursday around 8:30 a.m. at the fish lift near the company’s property off of Gatehouse Road, Holyoke Police Sgt. David O’Connell said Sunday.

Attempts to reach Kermensky’s and Cuoco’s families for comments Sunday were not successful.
