NORTHAMPTON — Fifteen minutes after the Northampton branch of TD Bank was allegedly robbed Saturday, Northampton Police had a suspect in custody.

Police arrested Jennifer Brumer, 37, of Northampton, around 1:45 p.m. on Pleasant Street, less than a mile away from the scene of the crime.

Brumer allegedly entered the store at 175 Main St. wearing a mask, handed the teller a note and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash less than $1,000, according to Detective Lt. Alan Borowski.

“A short time later, an officer on patrol observed a female matching the clothing description of the suspect,” Borowski said. He said that after a short investigation, police had enough information and evidence to arrest the woman.

Almost all of the cash was recovered, Borowski said. He said that he believes Brumer may have used the parade as an excuse to wear a masked costume, but could not yet disclose her motive.

Brumer is being held on charges of bank robbery, according to Borowski. Bail has not yet been set. The bank was closed for the rest of the day.
