I can sincerely say the vast majority of my Democrat friends and neighbors are caring, well meaning, even overly generous people. We may not all agree politically, but they are kind and respectful. Like all of us, I have so very many important things that I need to focus on, rather than wallow in the negativity and vitriol of political assassination of former President Donald Trump and any and all who support him.

When I reach my limit, I can no longer stay silent. In spite of the class and courtesy of all the rest, we have opinion contributions like retired professor Jon Huer, and the likes of monthly contributors Karen Gardner and John Sheirer, whose absolute incessant nastiness and degradation of all people and politicians on the right. Where are more moderate or right-leaning contributors?

But then why should I be surprised when President Joe Biden’s recent Pennsylvania speech perpetuates the worn out hyperbolic white supremacist trope. He campaigned as “The Great Unifier,” but has done more along with mainstream media to foment race-baiting, division and hate. Clearly to deflect for voters from three years of destructive policies.

As for Mr. Huer’s column [“Trump’s new American revolution of 2024,” Gazette, Dec. 30], his oft-used ( stated five times ) right-wing description, “crazy, ignorant, narcissistic” reeks of disgust for others, and elitist liberalism. His “Trump’s Americans are short-tempered, violent and juvenile, easily susceptible to conspiracy theories and lies,” conveniently leaves out Portland, Minneapolis and all the other American cities which were partly burned and damaged by the left during BLM/Antifa riots.

His claim “disinformation will become more sophisticated, perhaps with Russian help” is a snide and long disproved trope of 2016 election interference (the very thing the left reels from ) when brought up by anyone from the right over 2020. Very sad!

Trump’s sarcastic statement of a “one-day” dictator, and Huer’s leap to easily an “everyday ” dictator, along with his comment, “the American republic will be a fascist nation in less than six days” are more laughable and overly dramatic hyperbole parroting the slander protected CNN & MSDNC (you read that correctly).

As well as (projecting onto conservatives) actual fascist acts that this White House is currently doing to our country. Such as Mark Zuckerberg’s congressional testimony (did you even see this on mainstream news ?) of the FBI’s contacting him to “strongly encourage” Facebook to police and sensor all anti-vax and conspiracy posts, under the authoritarian guise of dangerous rhetoric! Aside from direct threats to someone, how is that not suppression of free speech ? (Even The KKK, abhor them as we do, is afforded full and protected speech).

Extremely telling is the quote, “Can Biden’s America — with the help of the courts, news media and voters — stop Trump’s rebels,” only proves the courts’ use of “law-fare ” and mainstream media’s clear left bias to never retract the false collusion claim, or even report on relevant incriminating Hunter Biden information. (Ironically, as I write this, the DOJ further acknowledged Hunter Biden’s laptop is real — imagine that.) Just two examples where there are many more.

The steady march and increase in Trump’s numbers shows Americans see it. I will give Huer credit, however, for nailing it with “King George ( Joe Biden is my parallel), with all the institutions under his command, could not stop the ‘spirit’ of the era: The American pursuit of liberty was here to stay.”

I look forward to Trump 2.0. By the way, to all those itching to write the Happy Valley left’s customary rebuttal to every right opinion, have at it. The truths I have stated will still be the truth.
