CAMBRIDGE – Hampshire County certainly made its mark in the pool over the weekend.

The MIAA Girls Division 2 Swimming & Diving Championship took place on Saturday at MIT, with a pair of local athletes battling it out for first place on the diving board.

It was Northampton’s Ursula Von Goeler who won the 1-meter dive state title with a score of 448.75 points, narrowly beating out Amherst’s Annabel Culbreth-Loomis who settled for second with a score of 434.70.

Saturday marked the second weekend in a row the two finished 1-2, as Von Goeler also won the Central/West Division 2 title last weekend with Culbreth-Loomis close behind in second. The gap was closer at the state meet on Saturday.

Northampton’s Caeil Killip-Leonard took 14th in the event (346.60).

“It’s really exciting, especially since this is my last year and that was my last meet,” Von Goeler, a senior said. “Knowing that there are so many great divers in Massachusetts makes it even more special to be able to have this title.”

Von Goeler wasn’t the only winner on the day for the Blue Devils.

Northampton’s Amalia Guerra finished the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 57.67 seconds, capturing the state title to bring home more hardware for the Blue Devils. Guerra’s time was over a full second faster than her winning time a week ago at sectionals (58.70), as she saved her best for the biggest stage.

For Amherst, Finnley Chambers placed fifth in the 500-yard free (5:24.80) and 12th in the 200 free (2:01.39). Both times were faster than her sectional splits, and the 500 free time was over four seconds faster than last weekend.

The Hurricanes quartet of Caprial DiBartolomeo, Chambers, Aurora Donta-Venman and Sadie Cyr took 15th in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:49.31) while Cyr, Chambers, Donta-Venman and DiBartolomeo came in 15th in the 400 free relay (4:01.30).
