Nonotuck Knights PeeWee Black youth hockey team takes 3rd in tourney

The Easthampton-based Nonotuck Knights PeeWee Black youth hockey team finished third in the Green Mountain Avalanche Tournament last month in Jay Peak, Vermont, after finishing with a 2-2 record.

The Knights fell in their first game 6-3 against Newburyport, the eventual first place finisher. They were the only team to score against them.

Nonotuck also dropped the second game 3-2 against MAHA on a last-minute goal.

The Knights bested CT Junior Huskies 5-2, and closed the tournament with an 8-0 win over the same Huskies.

Bess Elkins led the Knights with seven goals and three assists. Elkins notched a hat trick in the first game against the Huskies.

Angelo Tochina put in four goals, while Parker Dion had a hat trick in the final game.

Tess Epsteiner added a goal and two assists, while Wes Thompson contributed two goals and an assist.

Boden Crevier (goal) and Tejas Eck contributed one assist each.
