Monday’s high schools: Belchertown spikes Chicopee in three sets

Nathan Wright had eight kills as the Belchertown boys volleyball team swept Chicopee, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17 at home on Monday.

Andrew Duquette added six aces, while Connor Laflamme chipped in with 11 assists for the Orioles (6-9).

Putnam 3, Smith Vocational 0 — Despite strong games from Aman Ruhe (six digs, three aces), Tyler Top (three blocks eight digs) and Ethan Rivera (three digs, three kills), the Vikings (1-6) fell at home, 25-16, 25-13, 25-19.

Boys lacrosse

Chicopee Comp 13, Granby 6 —Drew Wiesel had three goals and Doug Labbee had two goals and an assist, but the Rams (3-8, 2-4 Suburban) fell at home.

Longmeadow 9, South Hadley 1 — Hunter Borowski’s goal in the second quarter kept the Tigers (2-10, 0-5 Valley Wheel) from being shut out.

Pope Francis 9, Northampton 8 (OT) — Tyler Allcroft scored with 15 seconds left in regulation to send it to overtime, but the Blue Devils (9-4) lost on the road.

Henry Attias led Northampton with five goals, while Ryan Heng made 17 saves in net.

Henry Higgins and Evan Moulton both added a goal for the Blue Devils.

Summer on Strong kicks off Wednesday in Northampton

Westfield 19, Amherst Regional 8 — Aidan Bass had three goals and two assists but the Hurricanes (3-9, 1-4 Valley Wheel) had no answer for the Bombers at home.

Dimitris Son added three goals, while Willy Wright and Vance Cannella both chipped in with one.

Chicopee 7, Belchertown 6 — Grant Irving had two goals and two assists but the Pacers edged the Orioles at home.

Aidan Lyons made eight saves for Belchertown (3-8).

Girls lacrosse

Granby 18, Monson 7 — Kate Sarnacki (four assists) and Julia Frappier each had five goals as the Rams rolled on the road.

Jessica Patruno added four goals and two assists in front of Jessica Barthlow, who made 13 saves for Granby (8-4)

West Springfield 16, South Hadley 12 — Marley Medina (four goals, one assist) and Julia Miele (two goals, three assists each had five points for South Hadley (3-8), while Briana Couture added three goals.

Westfield 12, Amherst Regional 7 — The Hurricanes played the Bombers even in the second half, but couldn’t climb out of their five-goal hole.

Malia MacDonald had four goals and an assist for Amherst (2-11, 1-6 Valley League), while Tea LaRaja added two goals and set up another.

Prep girls water polo

Deerfield 8, Williston 7 — Abbie Coscia had four goals and two assists, while Mary Knack added three goals and one assist, but the Wildcats fell on the road.
