bankESB promotesCzerniejewski to assistant VP

EASTHAMPTON — BankESB recently promoted Tim Czerniejewski to assistant vice president, commercial lending.

Czerniejewski, of Westfield, has 16 years of experience in banking. He joined bankESB in 2016 as a credit analyst, and was promoted in 2018 to assistant vice president, portfolio manager. In his new role, he will be responsible for developing, structuring and closing commercial loans, as well as maintaining and servicing existing accounts. Before joining bankESB, he was a risk analyst and a credit analyst at TD Bank.

Czerniejewski has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Western New England University, an associate degree in accounting from Springfield Technical Community College, and he is a graduate of the Springfield Leadership Institute.

Cathro elected tostate CPA board

BOSTON — Certified public accountant Charlotte Cathro has been elected to the to serve a second year on the board of directors at the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Cathro, a Northampton resident, is the co-founder of TAC CPAs LLC, where she provides tax filing services for a variety of individuals and businesses and develops year-round planning for clients. TAC CPAs LLC is a woman-owned business that works with the full spectrum of cannabis industry companies, from law firms and consultants to cooperatives and equity applicants.

MassCPAs board of directors is a group of 19 elected members that sets policies, manages programs and oversees activities that benefit the 11,500-member organization and accounting profession in Massachusetts.

Working as an adviser to the cannabis industry since 2012 when medical use passed in Massachusetts, Cathro started her own practice where she has grown that focus with about 90% of her clients in the private sector. Her extensive background in public accounting encompasses over 15 years of providing audit, tax and consulting services at two reputable regional accounting firms.

NORTHAMPTON — Northwestern Assistant District Attorney Erin Aiello was honored for her work as a prosecutor at the Massachusetts District Attorneys Association Annual Prosecutors Conference in April.

She was one of 11 ADAs from around the state to receive the 2023 MDAA Spotlight Award. Aiello, chief domestic violence prosecutor for the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, joined the staff in 2019, after previously working as a prosecutor in Bristol and Plymouth Counties.

In presenting the award, DA Sullivan noted Aiello’s expertise in the prosecution of animal cruelty cases, traveling across the county to present at trainings for prosecutors and law enforcement.

“She’s a tireless advocate for victims of physical and psychological abuse,” DA Sullivan said. “She brings energy, enthusiasm, and dedication to everything she does and everyone she defends.”

Florence Bankpromotes Hickey

FLORENCE — Florence Bank announced that vice president/director of marketing operations Jim Hickey of South Deerfield has been promoted to lead the bank’s marketing efforts as senior vice president/director of marketing.

Hickey replaces Monica Curhan, who retired on April 7 after serving as senior vice president/director of marketing for nearly 10 years.

Hickey was hired in November 2021 as director of marketing operations with the explicit plan to one day take the helm as director of marketing. He has 25 years of strategic marketing experience as well as a strong affinity for the Florence Bank brand, which Curhan ushered in in the early years of her tenure.

Hickey holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He has experience in areas that include account management, creative development, media plan execution and media buying.

Before joining Florence Bank, Hickey was the vice president of account service at Communicators Group, a marketing communications firm in Keene, New Hampshire. He has also served as vice president and director of marketing for Westbank, a financial institution formerly based in West Springfield.

Tighe & Bond named employerof the year

Tighe & Bond, a Westfield-based engineering, design, and environmental consulting firm that does work throughout Hampshire County, received the 2023 Employer of the Year Award from the Boston Chapter of the Society for Marketing Professional Services.
