HOLYOKE — Following ongoing drug investigations, police arrested three people over the weekend, charging two of the defendants with trafficking in heroin.

The arrests were made early Friday in two separate locations in the city, during raids that took place about an hour apart.

Armed with a search warrant, investigators arrested Ronnie Jacobs, 36, and Crystal Martinez, 31, both of Holyoke, at 50 West St. Both were charged with trafficking in heroin.

“Large amounts of heroin were seized along with various items used for the distribution of illegal narcotics,” according to a statement from Holyoke Police Capt. Matthew F. Moriarty.

The raid followed a joint investigation involving members of the narcotics/vice division of Holyoke Police, the FBI Western Massachusetts Gang Task Force, Homeland Security Investigations, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Task Force, and Hampden County Sheriff’s Office.

A second search warrant, issued for 358 Tokeneke Road, led to the arrest of Gabriel Rivera, 37, also of Holyoke, who was charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, according to Moriarty.

Rivera’s arrest followed an investigation by Holyoke Police, Massachusetts State Police, and Homeland Security.
