Criticizes Neal on ‘Israeli Anti-Boycott Act’

If there is any commitment which the Democratic Party has almost universally believed in, it is that freedom of speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment of the Constitution is sacrosanct.

Yet Congressman Richie Neal has co-sponsored a bill that would deny me and others that right if we advocated by speech or action in support of an Israeli boycott (“Neal backs bill to stifle boycott of Israel,” July 21). Such action would be subject to a fine or prison.

Fortunately, I do not live in Congressman Neal’s district, but if I did I would campaign vigorously for an opponent in a primary, and if that failed I would vote for a Republican for the first time in my life, and I would urge other voters in his district to do the same.

I feel strongly that Neal has forfeited the right to call himself a Democrat. His sponsorship of the “Israeli Anti-Boycott Act” makes him a soulmate of Donald Trump.
