Missed extra points plague Minutemen in loss to New Hampshire

FOXBOROUGH - As the University of Massachusetts football team tries to bounce back next week against Richmond, the Minutemen will have some kicking decisions to make after Saturday's 27-21 loss to New Hampshire.
Sophomore Brendon Levengood officially was listed with two missed extra points, and he actually failed to convert three. After UMass scored a late first-half touchdown, Levengood missed badly to the left, but was given a reprieve when the Minutemen were flagged for a false start. But he missed the next one almost as badly.
Levengood, who had been 18-of-21 entering the game, missed another early in the fourth quarter.
Brandon Yelovich replaced him late and made a 22-yard field goal.
UMass coach Kevin Morris appeared frustrated after the game.
"We missed two," he said. "The percentage rates of most teams is about 99 percent. We missed two today. It's very disappointing."
TALLEY LOVES FOXBOROUGH - While the two games at the home of the New England Patriots were disappointing for most of the Minutemen, Julian Talley was outstanding at Gillette Stadium.
The senior's two best performances have come in Foxborough. His 10 catches for 113 yards Saturday were both career highs. He had eight catches for 111 yards last year.
ATTENDANCE - The second Colonial Clash did not draw quite as well as the first one. The listed attendance Saturday was 24,022, after a crowd of 32,848 in 2010.
Among those who attended this year's game were former Minutemen Victor Cruz and Jeromy Miles, who are now in the NFL with the New York Giants and Cincinnati Bengals, respectively.
RIVALRY RECAP - If the teams do not play again, UMass finished the rivalry with 43 wins, 28 losses and three ties.
"To have an opportunity to play against UMass and not know if were ever going to have another one against them, it meant a lot to us to win this game," New Hampshire coach Sean McDonnell said.
