CHESTERFIELD — In contested elections Monday, voters returned two incumbents to office and elected a newcomer to the local school committee, Town Clerk Sandra Wickland reported.

Roger Fuller won reelection to the Select Board over challenger Emma Dee Cinner by 216 votes to 172, earning his 10th term on the board. And Patricia Colson-Montgomery bested challenger Noah Berman by 178-155 for a spot on the Hampshire Regional School Committee.

On the Chesterfield-Goshen School Committee, Kimberly Lyons-Snape garnered 171 votes to Kayla Rida’s 138, winning election to the seat being vacated by Geoff Gougeon.

By 226 votes to 139, voters also confirmed the March 26 special Town Meeting vote in favor of the modified cannabis bylaw, which prohibits all marijuana businesses except retailers.

Voter turnout was 40%, with 396 ballots cast out of an electorate of 996.

Others elected Monday were Crystal Ames, assessor; John L. Chandler III, Board of Health; Linda Urban-Lyon, library trustee; Susan Silva and Julia Freedgood, Planning Board; Denise Wickland, constable (three years); and Russell Peotter, moderator.

There were no official candidates for the two-year constable position. Write-in Daniel Blair was the top vote-getter with 19. Four other write-ins received one or two votes, while 371 ballots were left blank.

Wickland said her office was unaware of anyone running a write-in campaign for the position. Blair had not confirmed whether he would accept the post as of Tuesday morning, she said.
