The Fort River Trail

Silvio Conte Wildlife Refuge, Moody Bridge Road, Hadley

Photograph and text by Anne E. Ely, South Hadley,

The Fort River Trail in the Silvio Conte Wildlife Refuge on Moody Bridge Road in Hadley is one of my favorite places to walk. Not only does its flat, handicap accessible one-mile loop wind through fields and forests, but it has many benches along the way where one can rest and relax, many of which make for a pleasing scene. It is beautiful in any season. I never know what might appear along the way: colorful wildflowers, a great variety of birds, rabbits, red and gray squirrels, turkeys, muskrats and even bobcats. I’m sure there is much more that I have yet to see. It’s always an adventure.

This was created June 10 with a DSLR and a wide angle zoom lens.
