This mother and daughter duo caught our eye strolling arm and arm down Main Street in Northampton a couple days before Thanksgiving. Karen just recently moved to Northampton from St. Louis and Molly was visiting from Mexico City.

Karen: “She’s wearing my shoes”

Molly: “I think we were together when you bought them. I got the regular ones. This is a newer style (of Blundstone) that came out about a year ago for women that have a bit of a stacked heel and a more narrow foot bed. Our household is filled with Blundstones. Every man, woman and child is putting on each other’s. We are always picking from each other’s closets. I have an older sister, but she’s a lawyer, so we don’t have as much fun in her closet!”

On the crop pants look:

Molly: “I normally go for a crop pant. I think a boot and crop pant are fun and it’s warm enough today.”

Karen: “I actually don’t think these work that well. The pant is a little too stove pipey and then cropped.”

Molly: “No, Mom, you made the right choice!”

Their accessories:

Molly: “This is somebody else’s men’s Pendleton hat that I borrowed indefinitely from them.”

Karen: “My husband gave me this scarf. He’s an India-phile and it’s from India and I think made with Indigo.”

What’s in the bag?

Molly: “We picked up something from the last of Ode.”

Karen: “Seems like a lot of things are closing in town, and not sure what’s going to take their place.”

St. Louis vs Noho style:

Karen: “I fit in more here. A lady of my age (in St. Louis) would be wearing a knit suit, double breasted with gold buttons.”

Molly: “No, a holiday-themed sweater, with a Talbot jean and maybe a little Ked. Northampton style is more androgynous. There’s a functional, pastoral chic.”

On the move:

Molly: “It’s so fun to be here!”

Karen: “Way better than St. Louis, Missouri!”
