■“Our primary goal for the 1970s must be to give every individual in this nation a genuine opportunity for high quality education,” said Senator Edward M. Kennedy, speaking last night at the Massachusetts Annual Administrator’s Conference at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

■On April 19, 31 Northampton High School students and teachers will begin a journey to Spain. The tour director for the tip, which is being organized by the Spanish club, is Mrs. Andrea Rudolph, a Spanish teacher at the school. Blaise McArdle, who has served as the adviser concerning passports and other essential matters, will also serve as chaperone.

■Lots of people are excited about the coming of Anna Main’s100th birthday. Bob Cilman, co-coordinator of the Northampton Arts Council, is in the middle of organizing activities in recognition of Older Americans Month, with a special focus on Main — a woman well known for her work with the Young at Heart Chorus.

■The newly formed parent company of Pro Crop. has purchased a second custom plastics molding firm. Terry Minnick, chief executive officer and president of Pro Corp., said Pro Management Inc. acquired Apogee Plastic Technologies Inc., of Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 13.

■Daniel Lynch, principal at Granby High School and Junior High, will retire in June, ending a career that bridged the better part of a half century. The principal in Granby for four years, Lynch has been a familiar face in classrooms up and down the Pioneer Valley since 1969, the year he began teaching social studies in the Longmeadow schools.

■Mount Holyoke College’s Center for the Environment is getting $5 million — one of the largest gifts in Mount Holyoke’s history. The college Tuesday announced the receipt of a $5 million gift from Leslie A. Miller, current chairwoman of Mount Holyoke’s board of trustees, and her husband, Richard Worley.
