■Friday marked the end of the school year for seniors at Williamsburg High School, but this was an “end of the year” closing with a difference. This was the closing of the high school itself. From now on students will attend the new Hampshire Regional High School in Westhampton, and the old high school building will be used as an elementary school.

■Maharishi Mahesh Yoga, internationally known guru, is conducting a six-week course for the training of teachers of transcendental meditation at the University of Massachusetts. “T-M” is a natural technique to explore the deeper and hidden regions of the mind and thereby unfold the full mental potential of each individual, Maharishi said at a gathering of the press and 50 or ore of his followers at the Campus Center yesterday.

■G. Richard Huguenin, founder of Millitech Corp. in South Deerfield, has left that company to start a new one where he will continue developing a system for detecting concealed contraband and weapons, a project Millitech had canceled in April. The new company, Millimetrix, will be based on the third floor of the new UMass Ventures Center in Hadley University Park.

■A management shake-up at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital, triggered by a drive to cut expenses by $8 million, began yesterday by the elimination of two top-level administrative jobs. More job changes and layoffs, affecting middle managers, are expected by August.

■As heavy rains pelted Florence streets like Winter Hill lead, the buzz on the capture of Boston’s most famous fugitive gangster was hot. Whitey Bulger and his longtime moll Catherine Greig, who had eluded law enforcement for 16 years, has been brought to justice.

■Darren Alston, a local District Court magistrate, was approved on Wednesday as clerk magistrate for the Northampton District Court by the Governor’s Council. According to the governor’s press office, Alston was approved by a vote of 6 in favor and 1 abstention.
