AMHERST — A 21-year-old woman was found dead in an apartment at Puffton Village, 1040 North Pleasant St., on Thursday, according to the Northwestern district attorney’s office.

The death is not considered suspicious and the medical examiner’s office will determine the woman’s cause of death, said Mary Carey, a spokeswoman for the district attorney’s office.

The woman’s identity is not being released because the death is considered private, according to Carey.

As an unattended death, an investigation will be done by Amherst Police and the Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the district attorney’s office.

A spokesman for the University of Massachusetts said it is not known if the woman was affiliated with the campus.
