At a recent meeting the Forbes Library Board of Trustees unanimously approved the following motion: “The Forbes Library Board of Trustees supports the Mayor’s proposed $2.5 million override. The override would enable the city to support the level of public service, including library service, its citizens require and deserve.”

64% of residents in our community hold active Forbes library cards. Last year the library was visited 223,131 times, held 1,450 different programs and circulated over 400,000 items. Funding from the override would enable the library to continue to provide the many services and programs enjoyed by numerous people in the city — from babies to seniors.

The library has been able to increase its open hours in recent years and this override would enable the library to remain open during those hours, including the recently restored and very appreciated summer Saturdays. We encourage everyone who cares about Forbes, our schools and all public services to join us in voting yes on the override.
