WESTHAMPTON – Massachusetts State Police are investigating a two-vehicle crash on Route 66 on Thursday afternoon that killed a Huntington man.

Troopers assigned to the Northampton state police barracks responded to a crash on Main Road involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck at around 3:25 p.m.

A preliminary investigation found that a 2010 Toyota Tacoma, operated by a 77-year-old Northampton man, was traveling westbound on Main Road approaching a 1987 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by David Foster, 57, of Huntington, traveling eastbound, according to state police.

Police said the Toyota made a turn into the path of the motorcycle causing a collision, according to the preliminary investigation.

Foster suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The crash, including charges for the operator of the pickup truck, remain under investigation by State Police assigned to the Northampton barracks, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, and the Hampshire County State Police Detective Unit.
