Amherst’s Kenny Wang won his match at No. 1 singles to help the Williston Northampton boys tennis team open the season with a 7-0 win over The Gunnery on Saturday.
Northampton’s Nikhil Sierros prevailed at No. 2 singles.
The Wildcats went 72-8 in games played.
Ethan Dursht won at No. 3 singles, senior captain Nithish Raja bested his opponent at No. 5, Joey Nolte prevailed at No. 5 and Junior Joey Robbins rounded out the singles sweep in No. 6.
BaseballThe Gunnery 5, Williston 1 — Tim Fay reached base twice and had a single, while Nick Barber and Northampton’s Nick Heafey also added hits for the Wildcats in a loss Saturday.
Girls lacrosseSt. Mark’s School 6, Williston 5 — Fiona Bundy scored four goals, but the Wildcats lost Saturday. Madison Fulcher-Melendy had three assists, and Campbell Nyarady added one goal. Shana Hecht made nine saves.
Girls Water poloExeter 8, Williston 3; Williston 11, Andover 9 (OT) — Abbie Cosica tallied 10 total goals Saturday, as the Wildcats split two games. She poured in eight against Andover. Dylan Fulcher-Melendy had 22 saves total in the two games. Sabrina Shao scored twice against Andover, and Ella Mattocks found the net against Exeter.
Boys golfWilliston 204, Westminster 206, Suffield 214, Salisbury 222 — Tom Lawry shot a 38 to lead the Wildcats to three wins in their opener Saturday.
Boys lacrosseWilliston 15, The Gunnery 7 — John Killcommons scored seven goals, matching The Gunnery’s tally Saturday. Rob Champigny added three goals and two assists. Kevil Talbot won 22-of-25 faceoffs, and Sam Milnes made eight saves.
Girls tennisMiss Porter’s School 5, Williston 4 — Julia Farnham won at the No. 3 singles position and with Fuka Iwama at No. 1 doubles. Haley Beecher (No. 4 singles) and Sabrina Liew (No. 6 singles) also won their matches Saturday.
