Weekend Planner — Kids: Picture Book Theatre at the Carle

Published: 11/23/2016 4:31:52 PM

Founded in 2006 by Therese Brady Donohue, the Amherst-based Picture Book Theatre has over the past decade produced multi-media productions of nine Eric Carle stories incorporating puppetry, dance and music and taking considerable pains to replicate each book in color, puppets, scenery and props. With plans to explore children’s literature more broadly, the troupe has designated 2016 as the final year it will produce puppet shows drawing on the famous illustrator’s work. In fact, this weekend offers the final opportunity this year to see Picture Book’s puppets-only stagings of “The Very Quiet Cricket” and “The Lamb and The Butterfly.”

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Eric Carle Museum in Amherst. Tickets cost $6 and can be reserved in advance by calling the museum at 559-6336.
