Weekend Planner — Fashion: Light Up the Arts

Published: 12/7/2016 3:49:11 PM

It’s being billed as “The Valley's biggest fashion spectacle of the year, with an outrageous runway show, red carpet arrivals, music and dance performances, a silent auction, art installations and a hip-shaking afterparty.”

It’s Light Up the Arts, a fundraiser for Easthampton City Arts+, and it’s set to occur Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Ballroom at Eastworks as part of the monthly Easthampton Arts Walk.

Hosted by Grammy nominated songwriter Seth Glier, the highlight of the event is STRUT!, a runway show featuring a parade of Valley dandies and fashionistas alongside designers, clothing makers and fashion retailers. Look for choreographer Michelle Marroquin to bring her sci-fi-inspired dance to the runway with an abridged version of her work “Goddesses Descending” (pictured).

The $15-$50 sliding scale admission (students $5) gets you hand-crafted beverages from local breweries and wineries, along with light hors d’oeuvres and dancing to the beats of DJ LeFox.

The event culminates in an awards ceremony to recognize the diversity and creativity of the featured designers.
