Autumn Waterfall

East Hawley Road, Hawley, MA

Photograph and text by Georgette deFriesse

I admit that I grumbled a lot about all the rain we’ve had through the summer and into the fall. I would have been happy to have endless cool, sunny days and perfect foliage that isn’t blown or rained off the trees every few days. Fortunately, a walk down my road and into the state forest reminded me that generous rainfall has its rewards. This just-barely-year-round brook that runs beside the road would normally be more of a trickle in October, but this year it’s a noisy and colorful celebration. I captured this image with a tripod mounted DSLR using wide angle zoom lens.
