UMass had no solution for Mary Grace Bunch.

The Davidson goalkeeper posted the team’s sixth clean sheet of the season Thursday evening, and the third-seeded Wildcats scored the game’s only tally just 26 seconds into the first half to score a 1-0 victory over the Minutewomen in the semifinals of the Atlantic-10 Women’s Soccer Tournament in St. Louis.

Davidson will play top-seeded and host Saint Louis for the A10 title on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Billikens defeated No. 4 Dayton, 3-0, in Thursday’s other semifinal.

Bunch recorded six saves to pick up the win. She held off sustained pressure from UMass over the game’s final 20 minutes, as the Minutewomen held a 6-2 edge in shots on goal.

No. 2 UMass (6-5-1) found itself behind just 26 seconds into regulation. Davidson’s Alexandra Menard headed home a cross from Katherine Smith in the game’s opening minute to stake the ’Cats to an early 1-0 lead.

It was all UMass the rest of the way, but the Minutewomen were unable to tuck one past Burch.

It was the first-ever A10 tournament appearance for Davidson, which won the South Division pod of the A10 during the regular season.

UMass goalie Bella Mendoza made one save. Jenny Hipp had a team-high two shots on goal. The club, which made its second consecutive A10 semifinal appearance, was looking to reach the title game for the first time since 2011.
