AMHERST — People 75 and over will be able to schedule appointments, beginning Monday, to receive the Moderna COVID-19 at the University of Massachusetts.

The vaccination clinic, at the Campus Center, started Jan. 11 under the auspices of the Public Health Promotion Center. With 800 more doses supplied by the state, the location expects to have 1,500 doses available next week.

As supplies of the vaccine increase, the clinic, already having administered 2,500 doses, will ramp up to accommodate more individuals.

Ann Becker and Jeff Hescock, co-directors of the health promotion center, said in a statement that they are pleased to support the acceleration of vaccine distribution.

“This is a vital aspect of the UMass Amherst’s commitment to public service in fighting the pandemic,” they said, adding that they are continuing the community testing program and comprehensive testing of UMass students in advance of the spring semester.

All eligible individuals in Phase 2 of the state’s vaccination program will be required to schedule their appointments through www.umass.edu/coronavirus/vaccine. Registration will begin around 11 a.m.
