UMass hockey taking National Championship trophy on summer ballpark tour

The UMass hockey program is taking its show on the road.

The Minutemen will show off their 2021 national championship trophy on a summer ballpark tour of New England diamonds.

The trophy will hit five New England ballparks, beginning July 31 at the Valley Blue Sox' MacKenzie Stadium and culminating with a trip to Fenway Park for a Boston Red Sox game Sept. 6.

August will feature trophy tour stops at Bullens Field in Westfield, home of the Westfield Starfires (Aug. 3), Polar Park in Worcester, home of the Worcester Red Sox (Aug. 12) and Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford, home of the Hartford Yard Goats (Aug. 19). The national championship trophy will be available for photo opportunities at all stops of the tour, excluding Fenway Park. 

Here are specifics on each destination:

July 31, 2021 – Valley Blue Sox – UMass Athletics Night presented by The Hangar

First Pitch: 6:35 p.m.

Location: MacKenzie Stadium - 500 Beech St, Holyoke, MA 01040

August 3, 2021 – Westfield Starfires

First Pitch: 6:30 p.m.

Location: Bullens Field - Smith Ave, Westfield, MA 01085

August 12, 2021 – Worcester Red Sox – College Night

First Pitch: 6:35 p.m.

Location: Polar Park - 100 Madison St., Worcester, MA 01608

Additional Information: Select members of the national championship team will be recognized on the field prior to the game. Stop by the UMass Athletics table on the concourse for your chance to take a picture with the national championship trophy.

Ticket Offer: $15 general admission ticket that includes $8 of ballpark credit

August 19, 2021 – Hartford Yard Goats

First Pitch: 7:05 pm

Location: Dunkin’ Donuts Park - 1214 Main St, Hartford, CT 06103

Additional Information: Select members of the National Championship team will be recognized on the field prior to the game. Stop by the UMass Athletics table on the concourse for your chance to take a picture with the National Championship trophy.
