AMHERST — Two more companies interested in selling adult-use marijuana in Amherst are holding community outreach meetings this week, required by the state’s Cannabis Control Commission before they can seek a license.

The meetings are being held by Silver Therapeutics, which is looking at a vacant storefront at 37 Boltwood Walk, and MassMedicum, which would locate at 85 University Drive.

Amherst Economic Development Director Geoff Kravitz said local officials are still determining whether to make recommendations that the companies be eligible to sign host community agreements with Town Manager Paul Bockelman.

“We still have further to go before making a recommendation on MassMedicum, Silver Therapeutics or any other potential recreational marijuana retail operator during this round,” Kravitz said.

MassMedicum will have its outreach meeting Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel at 423 Russell St., Hadley, while Silver Therapeutics’ meeting was Wednesday evening at Bistro 63 in Amherst center.

Kravitz said MassMedicum already has a signed host community agreement to run a medical dispensary at the University Drive site.

Silver Therapeutics has a store open in Williamstown and another planned in Orange.

Rise Holdings Inc. at 169 Meadow St., Herbology Group Inc. at 422 Amity St. and Mass Alternative Care at 55 University Drive emerged from an earlier process to identify marijuana retailers, though only Rise has opened to the public.
