Tuesday’s high schools: Belchertown boys soccer blanks East Longmeadow

Five Belchertown boys soccer players scored in a 5-0 road win over East Longmeadow on Tuesday.

Goalie Sean McCarthy made three saves and added an assist for the Orioles (3-0, 2-0 Churchill).

Noah Pare, Evan Fournier, Ben LaClair, Alex Szarcowski and Ben Laliberte found the net.

Sean O’Neill, Chris Ingram and Tony Martel also added assists.

Westfield 5, Northampton 0 — The Blue Devils (0-2) were shut out by the Bombers (2-1) on the road.

Evan Renauld started the game in net for the Blue Devils and recorded nine saves in the first half. In the second half, Jarrett Borer recorded six saves.

Athol 6, Gateway Regional 2 — The Red Raiders were too much for the Gators in Huntington.

Robert Crossiere and Joe Coon scored for Gateway (0-2).

Jon Foley (four saves) and Preston Coffey (six saves) split time in net for the Gators.

Easthampton 4, Granby 1 — Nick Soucy had a goal and an assist in a road win for the Eagles.

Fernando Tenesaca, Adam Johndrow and Anthony Soucy also scored for Easthampton.

Chris Williams and Marcus Tenesaca assisted on goals for the Eagles (2-1, 2-0 Schmid).

Ryan Shaw scored for Granby (2-2, 1-1), while Ryan Walz made 10 saves in net.

Girls soccer

Smith Academy 6, Hampden Charter 2 — Hannah Rickert scored three goals, while Olivia Niedbala and her sister Madeline Niedbala (assist) each had one goal, as the Falcons (3-0) cruised at home.

Maggie Hession also scored, and Gabby Tisdale made eight saves in the win.

Hopkins Academy 2, Athol 1 — Juliette Cook picked up a goal and an assist, as the Golden Hawks (2-0-1, 2-0-1 Pioneer North) won on the road.

Tia Fyden scored, and Leah Picard added an assist. Mary Kate Farnham made four saves.

Field hockey

Greenfield 4, Northampton 2 — The Green Wave took an early lead, and the Blue Devils couldn’t come back in the home loss.

Anna Kerwood scored for the Blue Devils with an assist coming from Sophie Morini.

Emily Sledzieski scored the other goal, assisted by Abby Pelis.

In net, Danielle Parent made 13 saves for the Blue Devils (1-1).

Holyoke 5, Belchertown 0 — Abigail Rothstein made 20 saves, and Kiersten Laramee made 15 in a road loss for the Orioles (1-2)

Girls volleyball

Frontier Regional 3, Agawam 0 — Lauren Davenport lead the charge for the Red Hawks with 14 kills and eight digs in a 25-13, 25-18, 25-20 win.

Ella Deane had 28 assists. Selayna Bathurst also had double-digit kills with 10, while Ashley Telega, and Hailey Orloski combined for seven kills and four blocks for the Red Hawks (3-0, 1-0 Eastern).

Frontier will face off against Minnechaug on Thursday at home.

Longmeadow 3, Amherst 2 — Claire Basler-Chang had 19 kills, 15 digs and four aces but the Hurricanes lost 20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-23, 16-14.

Evelyn Foster added six kills, while Teya Nolan dished out 38 assists for Amherst (2-1, 0-1 Eastern).
