SOUTH DEERFIELD — Eve-Cowles Tree Farm will host a free public walk with a naturalist and forester to discuss forest management.

The event will be put on with help from the Massachusetts Woodlands Institute Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

“This walk and discussion, led by (Forester) Mike Barry and (Naturalist) Laurie Sanders, will focus on forest management, invasive plants, and bird habitat,” reads a press release.

Those who attend the walk — through a section of the farm’s 360 woodland acres — can expect to “see invasive plants in a forested landscape through the lens of an experienced forester and a natural historian.”

Walkers will also learn about state programs such as Foresters for the Birds, which “provides expertise, assistance and funding necessary for landowners to build better bird habitat in their woodlands.”

To learn more or to register for the walk on Saturday, email Melissa Patterson mpatterson@franklinlandtrust.org, or call 413-625-9151.
