NORTHAMPTON — Each year, the holiday toy exchange in Northampton helps parents who are shopping for the holidays on a tight budget and also promotes sustainability by expanding a toy’s life.

The seventh annual toy exchange will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 9 at Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, 80 Locust St. Toys are free and participants are asked not to bring children.

Toys will be collected from 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 8 at the school’s cafeteria. The exchange is seeking donations of musical instruments, action figures and dolls, games and puzzles, outdoor toys and structures, video games and movies. Items must be clean and in working order.

The toy exchange is coordinated by the Northampton Department of Public Works and the ReUse Committee, and is co-sponsored by the Northampton Public Schools.
