AMHERST — A film focusing on Tibetans in exile from their country will have its world premiere Wednesday night at the University of Massachusetts.

“A Place in the Sun — Stories from Tibet in Exile,” directed by Sonam Tseten, will be part of the 15th annual New Asia Cinema: Across Borders Film Festival, a semester-long event founded by Anne Ciecko, an associate professor in the Department of Communication.

Free and open to the public, the film screens at 7:30 p.m. at the Isenberg School of Management, Room 137 (Flavin Family Auditorium).

Produced by Tibet TV of the Central Tibetan Administration, the movie is an account of Tibetan people’s quest for homeland, freedom and rights, narrated through the daily life stories of four individuals.

Ngodup Tsering, a representative of the Dalai Lama to North America, will be at the event as the guest of honor, while Tseten will be available for a question-and-answer session following the screening.
