Thursday’s high schools: Willy Wright scores 5 in Amherst lacrosse win

Willy Wright scored five times and added an assist in a 14-12 home win for the Amherst Regional boys lacrosse team over Brattleboro Union on Thursday.

Vance Canella scored four goals and dished out two assists, and Aidan Bass tallied five points with two goals and three assists for Amherst (2-8).

Hurricanes’ goalie Jake Hibbard stopped eight shots.

Chicopee 9, Belchertown 3 — Grant Irving Jack Medina and Josh Cox each scored a goal and Jordan Henault added an assist, but the Orioles (4-5) fell at home.

Christian Assimus made 17 saves for Belchertown.

Chicopee Comp 13, Granby 3 — Sawyer Mahan scored twice for the Rams in a home loss.

Corey Hinkley and Noah Bristol had assists, while Nick Albers made 18 saves for Granby (3-5, 2-2 Suburban).

Westfield 12, Northampton 5 — Henry Attias had a goal and two assists in a road loss for Hamp.

Matt Huggett, Lyle Luzzi-Dundon, Henry Higgins and Evan Moulton also scored for the Blue Devils (6-4, 3-1 Valley).

Girls lacrosse

Westfield 20, South Hadley 5 — Marley Medina scored three goals and had an assist in a home loss.

Sarah Lacey scored the other two goals and had one assist, while Natalie Patruno dished out an assist for South Hadley (3-7).

Hanna Kopec made 11 saves in the Tigers’ net.

Chicopee 6, Amherst Regional 2 — Savannah Robinson made nine saves in net in a road loss.

Gianna Catalano and Meghan Sharick scored for Amherst (0-6).

Longmeadow 14, Northampton 7 — Ursa Heidinger and Abby Baldwin both had two goals and an assist for the Blue Devils in a home loss.

Sophie Melcher added two assists for Northampton (9-1, 3-1 Valley Wheel), while Bridget Harrington made six saves.

Granby 14, Chicopee Comp 3 — The Rams opened a 9-1 lead at halftime and rolled past the Colts at home.

Kate Sarnacki had six goals and an assist, while Kaeleigh Croteau added five goals for the Rams (5-3, 3-1 Pioneer).

Julie Frappier (two goals, one assist) and Haley O’Connor (two assists) also had multiple points in front of Mya Fillion (seven saves).

Boys volleyball

Sabis 3, Smith Vocational 1 — The Vikings couldn’t break through and fell at home, 25-12, 29-27, 23-25, 25-10.

Jake Wilson-Martineau led Smith (0-4) with four blocks, 25 digs, four aces, six assists and nine kills. Wendell Padilla added three blocks, 11 digs, 12 assists and nine kills.
