AMHERST — Three Amherst teenagers are facing criminal charges after they were located early Sunday morning with a motorized scooter stolen last month from a South Amherst apartment complex, according to Amherst Police.

Detective Joshua Harris said officers were contacted at 2:11 a.m. by a person in the area of Triangle and Pray streets who observed three people trying to take an IceBear ATV Vision PZ150 scooter, which had been reported stolen March 17 from The Boulders apartments.

The people fled from the location when officers got there, but with the help of K9 Marvin, police tracked down the suspects and identified them, Harris said.

The suspects, ages 16, 17 and 19, were summoned to court on charges of disturbing the peace, Harris said. They are not facing any larceny charges at this time, Harris said.
